What’s worse than a Dog Owner’s negligence in failing to confine or leash their Dog and it attacking you — The insensitive Dog Owner continuing to walk the Dog in front of your house.
I’ve had it happen multiple times in my career. A neighborhood Dog bites my client and then, adding insult to injury, the Dog Owner keeps walking the Dog in front of my client’s house, oblivious to or not caring about the emotional trauma it causes the victim.
It’s commonly known that Dog Bites cause both physical and emotional injuries, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Physical injuries can heal but often the emotional trauma from a Dog Bite can be a lifelong issue. The sight of any Dog, and in particular the one that attacked, can be triggering to the victim.
Because of this, it’s shameful when insensitive Dog Owners continue to walk the offending Dog near the victim’s home.
Just this week it happened to one of my clients and when I complained to the Dog Owner’s lawyer he actually said that my client should “Grow up and get over it.” What a jerk…..
